Quick and easy steps of installation (for iPhone you need to download the Jitti application from the App Store!)
- Install Jitti from the link on the download webpage. During the installation, the smartphone may signal that the software is from an unknown publisher. Answer "Yes". Install Jitti on the device, not to the storage card, that the application may run without interrupt in the background, and does not stop if you change storage card by any chance.
- Start the GPS setting application on the smartphone (Start / Settings / System / GPS)
- Tick "Manage GPS automatically" checkbox on the Access tab.
- On the Hardware tab set the name and speed of the COM port, where the GPS hardware outputs the position data. This information is available in the manual of the device. (Manufacturers mostly set to COM2 and 4800 baud, but your device may differ.)
- Close the GPS setting application.
- Try the settings on a place (preferably open air), which provides good GPS signal.
- Start Jitti. The software has to receive GPS data in few minutes, and the satellite dish icon has to turn green on the main screen.
(Find GPS settings for tested devices here.)
One thing is worth to mention: the GPS Intermediate Driver switches off the GPS receiver (for energy savings reasons), when it senses that there is no data receiving application. So in case of the below settings Jitti has to work (must not stop), in order to the GPS Intermediate Driver submits the data flow to the other application as well.
Installing besides another GPS application
During the steps below we assume that the GPS navigation application uses the GPS, and requires the original data flow, and we install Jitti as well to this device.
- Set any COM port on the Programs tab (not the one you have selected in point 4.).
- Close the GPS setting application.
- Set the old GPS application, as it expects data on the port set in step 5.
- Try the settings on a place (preferably open air), which provides good GPS signal.
- Start Jitti. This turns GPS Intermediate Driver on, and starts the data flow to the old GPS application as well.
- The software has to receive GPS data in few minutes, and the satellite dish icon has to turn green on the main screen. At the same time the GPS navigation application has to receive data as well.
